… do “it” for the love

What a difference a year can make in our lives. A year ago, Labor Day weekend, we were in Kentucky. It was both a bitter and sweet time in our lives as we were just a couple months in from grieving the loss of our son, brother and uncle Scot, at a young age of 36. But there we were in the city of Georgetown, packing up our daughter and family so we could caravan back to Ohio, where they would begin their life, again. Although it was a change, it was still their lifelong home they were coming back to. For them it was a chance to be closer to family and to be able to start fresh without the heartbreak memories that their sweet Kentucky Home gave them.

How ironic that a year ago we were helping them with their new adventure and here we are a year later and my daughter and I have launched a business that we have talked about for years. We always knew we would be together working on something special. The song “for the love” sparked our interest and as Britt would say “I want to start a business and call it “for the love”. We do it for the love, we do it because of Scot’s influence on our hearts that remains forever. It was and is HIS love of many things that keeps us going, but for now, it is a business that is crafted from our hands and designed for the love, by us.

Our journey from Kentucky was a hard journey. Everything that we knew about Scot, in Kentucky, was incredibly special to us. Every restaurant, stores in Georgetown and national parks all over the state had the presence of Scot. His life was changed by his adventures made in this amazing countryside. He began a new career, secured his own place of residence and yes even nurtured his prized role as Uncle Scot. He was the happiest he had been in many years. He was at home in this place.

Although he is no longer with us, Scot’s memories are so great in that area of Kentucky. We will forever love the things in Georgetown and the life that Scot, Britt and family all enjoyed. We will also be able to continue the theme of “for the love” as we advance our business with God in front, love in the middle and Scot at the back pushing us to keep on doing it “FOR THE LOVE”.
